Saving Our Daughters Founder
Delita N. Johnson
Delita Johnson, a licensed minister, is a 1988 graduate of Northside High School. She grew up in Lansing, MI and moved to Jackson, TN in the Summer of 1987. While in Michigan, she attended Eastern High School where she was a gymnast and track "star" for three years. Her last year of high school was spent at Northside. She is a honors graduate of West Tennessee Business College and Jackson State Community College. She is also a 2013 Cum Laude graduate of Union University. Delita has faithfully worked with youth and young adults for eight years.
Saving Our Daughters was founded in March, 2005. The first year exceeded her expectations, as God blessed the organization to serve over 500 girls in Jackson-Madision County, Dyer and Gibson County. A total of 40 members took a promise pledge in the first year of the ministries inception. The "Purity Ceremony" was held at Williams Chapel Church in Humboldt, TN where she has been a member for 19 years. The organization now reaches over 3,000 teens, young adults & parents throughout West Tennessee per year.
Delita has been married to Minister Anthony Johnson. They have three boys; Isaiah, Justin, and Kayleb Johnson. The Johnson couple are not only husband and wife, but they are best friends. They met during their college years at Jackson State in 1989 and have been together every since. Both are licensed and ordained ministers and are very active in church as well as their community. Delita states that "Putting God first allows everything else to fall in line." She is presently employed with the City of Jackson.
Delita's passion for encouraging single youth and young adults to remain abstinent until marriage (because it is not only the best choice, but the right choice) stems from her personal childhood. She also teaches lifes skills and is certified in behavior therapy and anger management. Delita is also a strong advocate for protecting the unborn from abortion. She serves as a board member and Chaplain for Regional Inter-Faith Association (RIFA) and volunteers for numerous local non-profit organizations. One of Delita's favorite scriptures: Jeremiah 29:11
